WHEN TURNING THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS OFF, THEY INTERMITTENTLY DO NOT PARK AT THE CORRECT LOCATION AT THE BOTTOM OF THE WINDSHIELD, OR THEY CONTINUE TO RUN. WHEN YOU TRY TO PUT IT IN THE PARK POSITION, IT JUST KEEPS RUNNING, AND LANDS IN THE MIDDLE OF THE WINDSHIELD. IF YOU HAVE A VEHICLE THAT REPORTEDLY HAS THIS SYMPTOM, REPLACE THE WINDSHIELD WIPER MOTOR COVER PLATE. A HONDA SERVICE BULLETIN 07-071 DATED SEPTEMBER 24,2010 IDENTIFIES THIS PROBLEM AND SAYS THE WINDSHIELD WIPER MOTOR COVER PLATE IS FAULTY. I HAVE SEEN HUNDREDS OF PEOPLE COMPLAINING ABOUT THIS ON INTERNET FORUMS, AND THIS IS A HUGE SAFETY ISSUE. AT WHAT POINT WILL HONDA TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR THIS AND RECALL IT? CAN YOU HELP WITH THAT? ODI #11515412 • Incident Date: 01/01/2016
UNKNOWN. This has been an ongoing problem for years. I finally retired and had enough time to trace it down Water was getting on the floor of my car on passenger side after substantial rainfall. Extended shoulder harness webbing as far as it would go and found webbing soaking wet from water on last 2 feet of webbing that could be exposed and assume webbing still wet hidden within sidewall panel. (Nobody used the shoulder harness on passenger side of car) Taped off sunroof and doors on that side and found when using a water hose, water was getting into the passenger shoulder harness area and also dripping out of shoulder harness sidewall height adjuster. Removed the roof moulding trim strip on right side of roof, inspected, found no body seam sealant had been applied at the factory in the area where roof and side panel of car was spot welded when manufactured. Welds are still ok but an exposed gap was missing body seam-sealant along the area starting about 18 inches aft of windshield. I purchased seam sealant at body shop and applied seam sealant myself. Rechecked for leakage after sealant cure. Was ok. Re-installed roof moulding trim strip. Not sure if any water damage has occurred to shoulder harness mechanism. No apparent binding of mechanism at this time.

DRIVER SIDE SAFETY PRETENSOR MALFUNCTIONED. THIS ISSUE CAUSED THE AIRBAG TO NOT WORK IF IN AN ACCIDENT. HONDA SHOULD REPLACE ANY SAFETY ISSUES WITH ANY VEHICLES. I HAD TO GET IT REPLACED BY A HONDA DEALERSHIP COSTING 430.00.
ODI #11115217 • Incident Date: 01/02/2018
SEAT BELT LIGHT FOR THE PASSENGER SIDE. NOT ALL THE TIME. IT'S INTERMITTENT IT DOES NOT HAPPEN EVER TIME. I HAD THE AIR BAG CHANGED..AFTER THAT THIS PROBLEM STARTED. DEALER SAID THEY WILL NOT COVER IT UNDER WARRANTY.
ODI #10726953 • Incident Date: 05/21/2015
WHILE I WAS DRIVING THE SEAT BELT DEPLOYED AND LOCKED UP ON ME AND I WASN'T IN A CRASH. I HAD ALREADY HAD IT REPLACED (PAID ABOUT $700) AND IT LOCKED UP (DEPLOYED) AGAIN WITHOUT A CRASH. HONDA REFUSES TO COVER IT. ONE HONDA DEALER HAD ME DRIVE TO ANOTHER (WITHOUT A WORKING SEAT BELT) AND NEITHER DEALER WILL COVER IT AND HONDA CORPORATE SAID IT WILL NOT BE COVERED.
ODI #10712639 • Incident Date: 04/22/2015
THE SEAT BELT FORCEFULLY LOCKED UP WHILE I WAS DRIVING. VERY SCARY. I COULD NOT LOOSEN IT. I PULLED OVER AND AFTER A FEW MINUTES MY BROTHER IN THE PASSENGER SEAT WAS ABLE TO HELP ME UNBUCKLE IT. THERE WAS NO CRASH. IT JUST LOCKED UP WITHOUT WARNING WHILE I WAS DRIVING. I DIDN'T HIT A POTHOLE OR A CURB. SEEMS LIKE A SAFETY ISSUE THAT HONDA MIGHT HAVE TRIED TO TAKE CARE OF BUT THEY WON'T COVER THE COSTS OF REPAIR SINCE IT IS OUT OF WARRANTY. *TR

I WAS ON A 700 MILE TRIP TO VISIT MY FAMILY MEMBER. IN THE MIDWAY THE A/C CONDENSER GOT DAMAGED AND A/C STOPPED WORKING THAT LEAD TO SUFFOCATION DUE TO HOT AND HUMID ENVIRONMENT. I HAD TO DRIVE THE CAR FOR 7 HOURS IN 110 F TEMPERATURE WITH OPEN WINDOWS ON HIGHWAY. I DEHYDRATED AND FELL SICK AND VOMITED COUPLE OF TIMES. THERE IS NO SAFETY FOR CONDENSER TO PROTECT IT TO GET HIT FROM PEBBLES ON THE ROAD. IT IS A VERY COMMON SAFETY PROBLEM AND HONDA IS NOT FIXING IT. THIS INCIDENT COULD LEAD TO ACCIDENT AND/OR INJURY. *TR
ODI #10323232 • Incident Date: 03/31/2010 [CRASH]
I WAS PULLING INTO A PARKING SPACE WHEN ALL OF THE SUDDEN THE CAR STARTED TO ACCELERATE. I WAS PUSHING AS HARD AS I COULD ON THE BREAKS AND THEY WEREN'T WORKING. I THEN RAN INTO A TREE AND IMMEDIATELY PUT THE CAR INTO PARK. I HAD TO TURN THE CAR OFF BECAUSE IT WAS SMOKING. I AM NOT SURE IF THE ENGINE WAS STILL RUNNING AFTER I HIT THE TREE OR NOT. I KNOW THAT MY FOOT WAS FIRMLY PLANTED ON THE BRAKE, CHECKED TO SEE WHERE MY FEET WERE AFTER HITTING THE TREE AND TURNING THE CAR OFF. I HAVE NEVER HAD THIS HAPPEN BEFORE IN MY CAR. IT ONLY HAS 34000 MILES. IT HAS HAD REGULAR MAINTENANCE SUCH AS OIL CHANGE AND THE TIRES WERE REPLACED AT 25,000 MILES.

A/C OUT ON 1 YEAR OLD HONDA CIVIC. DEALER SAYS "ROCK HIT THE A/C CONDENSER". THIS IS EITHER A FAULTY PART OR A DESIGN FLAW AND HAS BEEN NOTED BY HONDA OWNERS AS FAR BACK AS 2003 (ACCORDING TO WEB RESEARCH). CAR IS CURRENTLY IN SAN DIEGO AND THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE AS AN OVER HEATED DRIVER COULD BE DISTRACTED OR DROWSY. CAR HAS NOT YET BEEN FIXED - HONDA DENIES ANY RESPONSIBILITY AND COST TO FIX IS OVER $600. *TR
ODI #10203188 • Incident Date: 08/25/2007
I BOUGHT MY NEW '07 CIVIC LX FOUR WEEKS AGO. WHEN I TURN ON THE AIR CONDITIONER ON LOW: IT CONSISTENTLY CYCLES (A VERTICAL FAN NEAR THE ENGINE) AND MAKES A VERY LOUD CLICKING NOISE EVERY SEVEN SECONDS (LIKE DROPPING A MARBLE ON A PIECE OF METAL). THE NOISE CONTINUES--WHETHER THE CAR IS STOPPED OR MOVING--AND SEEMS TO GET LOUDER AND LOUDER; TO THE POINT WHERE OTHER PASSENGERS IN MY CAR ARE HEARING IT (EVEN IF I HAVE THE RADIO TURNED ON). THE ONLY WAY TO STOP THE NOISE IT TO TURN THE FAN SPEED TO HIGH--SO THE "VERTICAL FAN" NEAR THE ENGINE CONTINUOUSLY RUNS (DOESN'T TURN ON AND OFF). THE NOISE DOESN'T OCCUR WHEN THE HEATER IS TURNED ON. I TOOK MY CAR TO THE AUTO DEALER: THE FIRST TIME, THE MANAGER DIDN'T HAVE THE A/C INSPECTED--TOLD ME THAT IT'S NORMAL. A WEEK LATER, I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER A SECOND TIME: THEY CLAIM TO HAVE "COMPARED WITH LIKE VEHICLE"..."AIR CONDITIONER OPERATING AS DESIGNED BY HONDA." (THAT'S WHAT WAS WRITTEN ON MY CUSTOMER COPY REPAIR INVOICE.) MY AUTO DEALER NEVER SHOWED ME THE "LIKE VEHICLE" TO PROVE TO ME THAT--THE CONSISTENT LOUD NOISE--IS A NORMAL PROCEDURE. I'VE DRIVEN LESS SUPERIOR CARS (FORD ESCORT AND CHEVROLET TRACKER) AND NEVER HAD SUCH A PROBLEM. *TR

ODI #10362158 • Incident Date: 12/15/2009
I AM THE OWNER OF A 2007 HONDA CIVIC HYBRID LIVING IN LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA SO I'M SURE YOU ARE ALREADY AWARE OF WHAT THIS IS REGARDING. STARTING IN THE WINTER OF 2009, I NOTICED THAT MY MILEAGE WAS BEGINNING TO DROP AND THAT THE ACCELERATION OF MY VEHICLE WAS DIMINISHING SIGNIFICANTLY. BEFORE THIS PROBLEM STARTED, I WAS AVERAGING AROUND 45 MILES PER GALLON BUT THIS HAS SINCE DIMINISHED TO AROUND 34. I GOT THE CAR CHECKED OUT REPEATEDLY AND THEY PUT SOME SORT OF UPDATE ON MY BATTERY AND TOLD ME NOTHING WAS WRONG BUT THEN THERE WAS AN ARTICLE ABOUT THIS PROBLEM IN THE LOS ANGELES TIMES. HONDA THEN OFFERED ANOTHER SOFTWARE UPDATE TO "FIX" THE PROBLEM BUT I HAVE HEARD NOTHING BUT NEGATIVE THINGS ABOUT IT. A FRIEND OF MINE WHO HAS THE EXACT SAME MAKE AND MODEL AS ME GOT THIS NEW UPDATE AND NOTHING AT ALL CHANGED AND HE IS STILL GETTING A CHECK EMISSIONS SYSTEM WARNING ON HIS DASHBOARD. I DON'T KNOW WHO ELSE I SHOULD BE CONTACTING ABOUT THIS ISSUE BUT I HOPE TO FIND OUT WHATEVER I CAN TO HELP GET WHATEVER COULD BE DONE TO GET SOME SORT OF A RECALL ON THIS CAR IN MOTION. IT IS INSULTING WHAT HONDA IS PUTTING US THROUGH AND IS MAKING ME SERIOUSLY CONSIDER ABANDONING THE HONDA MARK FOREVER. *TR

TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 HONDA CIVIC. WHILE DRIVING 70 MPH THE FRONT LEFT TIRE STRUCK A PIECE OF WOOD AND RUPTURED THE FUEL TANK. THE CONTACT INSPECTED THE VEHICLE AND NOTICED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS LEAKING GASOLINE. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A LOCAL DEALER WHO STATED THAT THERE WAS A HOLE IN THE FUEL TANK. THE VEHICLE IS CURRENTLY BEING REPAIRED AT A COST OF $640.00. THE CONTACT IS IN THE PROCESS OF CONTACTING THE MANUFACTURER. THE CONTACT DOES NOT FEEL THE REPAIR WILL REMEDY THE FAILURE SINCE THE DEALER IS REPLACING THE FAILED COMPONENT WITH A PLASTIC FUEL TANK WITHOUT A GUARD TO PROTECT THE FUEL TANK FROM ROAD DEBRIS OR RECURRING. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 54,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 54,010.
ODI #10238724 • Incident Date: 08/18/2008
UPON READING REPORT # 10235631 ON HONDA CIVIC 2007, "A SOUND LIKE WATER RUSHING FROM THE REAR UNDERSIDE OF CAR UPON BRAKING AND ACCELERATING": MY 2007 HONDA CIVIC DOES THIS ALSO. IT IS OBVIOUS TO ME THAT IT IS THE PARTIAL TANK OF GASOLINE SLOSHING BACK AND FORTH INSIDE THE GAS TANK. MOST, IF NOT ALL, CARS' GAS TANKS HAVE SHEET METAL BAFFLES INSIDE THE GAS TANK TO LIMIT THE SLOSHING OF FUEL UPON MOTION OF CAR. EITHER THE BAFFLES ARE NOT ADEQUATE OR NON-EXISTENT. DEALER JUST LOOKS AT ME WHEN I MENTIONED THIS. I KNOW CARS INSIDE AND OUT, AS I HAVE DONE ALMOST ALL OF THE MECHANICAL REPAIRS ON MY CARS FOR 55 YEARS, INCLUDING THE INNARDS OF THE GAS TANK. "IT'S A NO-BRAINER" ! *TR
