Statutory vs. Discretionary Remedies: Because your vehicle model year is currently excluded from official NHTSA campaign 19V888000, authorized dealerships are not legally mandated under federal law (49 U.S.C. Section 30120) to perform free recall repairs on your vehicle.

Adjacent Recall Summary (19V888000): General Motors LLC (GM) is recalling certain 2019-2020 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 and GMC Sierra 1500 trucks. The battery positive (B+) cable rings may have been manufactured with excessive glue, potentially causing an intermittent electrical connection between the B+ cable and alternator.

Safety Consequence: An intermittent electrical connection between the B+ battery cable and the alternator could cause the vehicle to stall, increasing the risk of a crash. The intermittent connection could also lead to electrical arcing, which could generate sufficient heat to damage surrounding material, increasing the risk of a fire.

Manufacturer Remedy on 2019, 2020: GM will notify owners, and dealers will inspect for the presence of glue or other contamination at the B+ cable attachment to the alternator and clean the connection and reattach the B+ cable connection, as necessary. If arcing has damaged the cable, nut, or alternator, the dealer will replace the damaged components. All services will be performed free of charge. GM issued owners an interim notification on February 4, 2020. GM issued second notice and the recall began March 9, 2019. Owners may contact Chevrolet customer service at 1-800-222-1020 or GMC customer service at 1-888-988-7267. GM's number for this recall is N192273510.

The key will not release from the ignition when in park. This is all over the internet as a very big problem. People are bypassing the ignition interlock so they don’t have to leave the vehicle unattended with the key in the ignition inviting theft. Therefore while driving the ignition could be cut off and the key can come out. This is a huge safety issue. This will kill people.

ODI #11748065 • Incident Date: 06/30/2026
Vehicle experienced sudden power steering failure and needed to be towed. A list of preceding error codes presented upon diagnostic review including power steering motor circuit, control module power circuit low input/low voltage, steering failure mitigation, power steering malfunction, lost communication with power steering control module to name a few. Dealership traced it back to a known GM part issue with the body to chassis ground strap identified in GM consumer satisfaction program N252515590 in Chevy and GMC 1500 2019-2024 models. The identified strap corrodes causing electronic failure noted above and documented by the dealership. The CSP was issued in January 2027 and is in effect until February 2028 however the dealership charged my out of pocket $384.48 for labor for a $13.40 part. My GM platinum protection plan also refused to cover the cost of the know defective repair.
ODI #11741416 • Incident Date: 05/31/2026
1. An electrical failure from a component of the main wiring harness causes the ECM to respond with Service ESC, Reduced Engine Power, Service parking brake, service traction control. 2. Interstate driving requires maintaining rate of speed to avoid collision. The vehicle is much more difficult to drive as acceleration is very poor and also main safety functions like traction control are disabled. 3. Check engine light stays on until codes have been read. After codes have been cleared, normal driving and usually turning or bumps in the road tend to trigger the recurrence. 4. The vehicle has only been reviewed by the dealership for this issue. 5. No warnings before the failure occurs.

Adjacent Recall Summary (19V889000): General Motors LLC (GM) is recalling certain 2019 Chevrolet Silverado 1500, Cadillac CT6, and GMC Sierra 1500 vehicles. Due to an Electronic Brake Control Module (EBCM) software error, the vehicle's Electronic Stability Control (ESC) and Antilock Brake System (ABS) may become disabled. Furthermore, if this specific error occurs, the vehicle's diagnostics will not illuminate the instrument cluster ESC and ABS malfunction warning lights. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 126, "Electronic Stability Control" and 135, "Light Vehicle Brake Systems."

Safety Consequence: If the driver operates the vehicle unaware that ESC and ABS are not functioning, there is an increased risk of a crash.

Manufacturer Remedy on 2019: GM will notify owners, and dealers will reprogram the EBCM, free of charge. The recall began February 4, 2020. Owners may contact Chevrolet customer service at 1-800-222-1020, Cadillac customer service at 1-800-333-4223, or GMC customer service at 1-888-988-7267. GM's number for this recall is N192268090.

Adjacent Recall Summary (24V674000): General Motors, LLC (GM) is recalling certain 2023 Chevrolet Silverado 1500, GMC Sierra 1500, 2023-2024 Chevrolet Tahoe, Suburban, GMC Yukon, Yukon XL, Cadillac Escalade, and Escalade ESV vehicles. The electronic brake control module software may fail to display a warning light when a loss of brake fluid occurs. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Vehicle Safety Standard number 135, "Light Vehicle Brake Systems."

Manufacturer Remedy on 2023: The Electronic Brake Control Module (eBCM) software will be updated through an over-the-air (OTA) update or by a dealer, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed October 25, 2024. Owners can contact GMC customer service at 1-800-462-8782, Chevrolet customer service at 1-800-222-1020, or Cadillac customer service at 1-800-458-8006. GM's number for this recall is N242447990.
